EAST MOLINE, IL. – April 5, 2019 – TBK Bank, SSB, announced today plans to donate the bank’s downtown East Moline building to the East Moline Public Library, along with 1 acre of land. The iconic mid-century TBK Bank building located at 1523 8th Street will subsequently be converted into a new state-of-the-art library. TBK Bank will build a new branch location one block from the new library at the corner of 7th Street and 16th Avenue.

“The East Moline Public Library has been a fixture of the community since 1915, with 84 of those years in its current location,” said Laura Long, Director of the East Moline Public Library. “In our new location, which is just across the street from our current location, we will serve our patrons with many modern upgrades.”
With over 100,000 visitors to the East Moline Public Library each year, no other public institution serves as many residents of East Moline. The new library will offer a state-of-the-art digital plaza with increased access to technology. The programming we will be able to offer in the new facility will be in line with contemporary library services. This upgrade will vastly improve ease of access for our community. We are excited to also provide extended-hour meeting rooms and collaborative workspaces for the community. It will truly serve as the community’s living room.”
